Are there specific areas of biology you are interested in? Because mitochondria are structurally and functionally connected with many other parts of the cell, they are an exceptional gateway to study lots of interesting facets of cellular and organismal biology. So, whatever your basic science interests, reach out to Maulik—he is always excited to help brainstorm ideas for research projects that match individual interests.
We have created a unique lab community. We are collegial but work independently. We help each other, take interest in each other’s research projects, and celebrate each other’s successes. But we each have our own separate projects that we are the primary intellectual drivers of. Come help us sustain a socially positive and an intellectually vibrant lab environment.
Do you feel like you want to make your mark in science? Do you have an abiding faith that your hard work and determination will pay off in the long-run? We welcome anyone and everyone with such gumption!
“I don’t care if it’s men, women, girls, boys, gay, straight, black, blue, alien gray. I think everybody has a right to live, be productive, and be who they are.” -Dolly Parton
Interested postdoc, research assistant, and staff scientist candidates should directly contact Maulik.
Graduate students in the Interdisciplinary Graduate Program (IGP), the Quantitative and Chemical Biology (QCB) Program, the Biological Sciences Program (BSP), or the Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP) are encouraged to rotate in the lab.
Vanderbilt undergraduates, including those in the SyBBURE Searle Program, the START Program, and those planning to become MARC Scholars, should email Maulik directly. Undergraduates from outside Vanderbilt interested in summer research should apply to the Vanderbilt Summer Science Academy (VSSA).
