Bharat Thapa

Bharat hails from Chandigarh, India. He received his BS and MS Research degree in Biology from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, India. At IISc, Bharat worked in the Bhat Lab on understanding the effect of chemotherapeutic drugs on mesothelium and the progression of ovarian cancer in senescent mesothelium.

Bharat joined the Patel Lab to explore his interests in epigenetics and aging. He believes that understanding how changes in the epigenetic landscape alter fertility and lifespan is important to gain insights into aging.

Outside of lab, Bharat enjoys playing soccer, swimming, and biking. He also likes to teach and mentor students.
